Queensland Games Festival adds Australia’s first streamer summit to 2026

Queensland Games Festival

Screen Queensland is organizing the first ever Let’s Play Streamer Summit.

This initiative will connect game developers, Twitch streamers and content creators during the Queensland Games Festival.

They’ve got support from Twitch and BRIGDA for this event.

Scheduled for Friday, June 26th, the summit is tacked onto the festival’s Framework industry day. Activities go from 1:30 pm to 4 pm, with more stuff happening from 4:30 to 9 pm.

Highlights include panels and hangout sessions. Plus, there’s a friendly competition where devs battle streamers in Super Smash Bros. Expect updates on who’ll lead the panels soon.

Discussions will cover advice for up and coming streamers, how to pinpoint their unique thing and build a fanbase.

Attendees can look forward to insights on using these sites as tools for marketing games. Lessons learned range from figuring out extra income sources to gauging audience reactions and finding a side hobby.

The program continues Saturday 27 June with the Queensland Games Festival Exhibition where streamers will be able to try some of the latest Queensland games under development and capture content via dedicated streaming stations.

“The summit was a true reflection of the agency’s commitment to growing the state’s game development and content creator industries,” said Screen Queensland Executive Director of Screen Content Julie Eckersley.”

“Queensland is the first state screen agency to have a dedicated online program and one of the most competitive digital games offerings in Australia, so we are perfectly placed to launch the first national summit for streamers, where developers and creators collide,” Ms Eckersley said.

Lewis Mitchell, APAC Content Director at Twitch, said the summit was a good opportunity for the livestreaming community.

Twitch is where livestreaming happens, and they can’t wait to unite creators and industry folks in person.

This will celebrate streaming culture in Queensland and around Australia too. The broader Queensland Games Festival takes place at the Brisbane Powerhouse.

It’s free for everyone and highlights local digital and board games from the studios that made them.

Last year, it attracted thousands of people and has grown to be a big deal for the state’s gaming scene.

Alongside events such as Adelaide’s SAGE and Melbourne International Games Week, the festival strengthens Queensland’s position.

The Streamer Summit, part of this event, will have limited spots available. People can get info on how to register through the Queensland Games Festival website.
