Two former Village Roadshow employees have been charged with allegedly stealing more than $1 million from the entertainment company.
Victoria Police said the pair were arrested after a long investigation. The probe started when an internal audit found problems with the company’s finances.
The accused, a man and a woman both from Melbourne’s south east, face multiple fraud and theft charges. They appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court and were granted bail with strict conditions.
Village Roadshow runs theme parks on the Gold Coast including Warner Bros. Movie World and Sea World.
The company reported the suspected problems to police in late 2025. Police allege the money was taken over several years using fake invoices and by changing internal payment systems.

The company put out a short statement saying it was working with police. It also said it had improved its financial checks since then. A spokesperson would not comment further because the matter is before the court.
The case has raised questions about how large entertainment companies watch over their money. Observers said businesses that handle large amounts of cash are especially at risk of this kind of alleged behaviour.
Both accused are expected back in court later this year. Police have not ruled out more charges.
