Trump’s four week Iran timeline lines up with planned Beijing summit

Trump's four week Iran timeline

According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the military mission against Iran has a potential goal of being completed in four weeks.

If this occurs, it will coincide with the commencement of Trump’s trip to China from March 31 to April 2 to meet with President Xi Jinping at summit meetings of the world’s two largest economies.

Australian intelligence analyst Marcus Hellyer has indicated that completing the Iran operation before Trump travels to China would enhance the United States standing internationally vis a vis its chief strategic competitor.

Hellyer said that, “The USA would establish itself with the ability to successfully project large amounts of military power from halfway around the globe.”

Trump told the Daily Mail that the U.S. could have completed its operations against Iran “in approximately four weeks”, yet did not set a specific timeline.

Trump did, however indicate that he was still interested in negotiating with Iran.

Iran’s relationship with China makes any conflict in that region difficult to disentangle from the larger US/China tensions present today.

Hellyer cautioned that the longer this air campaign continues on, the more missile and interceptor capacity will be consumed by the United States.

These are essential for any crisis over Taiwan or bills, including Tomahawk cruise missiles and Patriot missiles. Trump began attacking Iran, in coordination with Israel on February 28th.

He described the operation as part of an effort to eliminate the stated threats from Iranian missiles and nuclear programs, while encouraging Iranian citizens to overthrow their regimes.

Many analysts cited by Reuters question whether the use of air power alone will result in regime change in a country as large and resilient as Iran.

While Trump set a finite time limit for action, he conveyed a more serious message about reprisals against Iran.

Trump said on Truth Social “if an act of war occurs, we will hit back in a manner not seen before by mankind!”
