Missile strike hits helipad

A missile attack on the US embassy in Iraq hit the helipad within the embassy compound on Saturday, Iraqi security sources said sending up a cloud of smoke over one of America’s most sensitive international locations.

While the situation remains unclear, the embassy in Iraq had been attacked in a missile strike and that there had been a cloud of smoke rising from the embassy building, although there had been no word yet on whether there were any casualties.

The embassy is located in the Green Zone, the heavily fortified area of the Iraqi capital that contains the offices of the Iraqi government and other international embassies.

The attack comes after a sharp increase in alerts and attacks associated with the expanding regional conflict.

The US embassy in Baghdad was the target of Katyusha rockets on March 7, according to Reuters.

Sirens went off and people were ordered to seek shelter. One rocket had been brought down by the C RAM defense system, according to an Iraqi security official at the time and none had landed inside the compound.

A few days later, on March 10 a drone attacked the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center, which is located close to the airport.

In the recent security alerts, the US Embassy has warned of the threats posed by Iran and Iran aligned militia groups in Iraq.

The security alert indicated that there had been attacks on US citizens and interests in Iraq. The security alert warned US citizens in Iraq to remain vigilant and consider leaving the country.

The recent attack in Iraq happened as the US Israeli war on Iran entered its second week.

The war has been spreading in the region, with Iran using missiles and drones in the attacks.

Iran has been making threats on energy infrastructure in the region. The recent attack in Iraq is a clear indication that Iraq is again in the middle of the US Israeli war with Iran.
