Arthur Fils produced the most dominating display of the 2026 season so far as he destroyed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-0, 6-1 in 55 minutes to advance to the fourth round of the Miami Open.
The 21 year old Fils, who won 53 of the 77 points played, won all of Stefanos service games except one, as he broke the Greek star six out of the seven occasions he served to return to the court, and only lost six points on his serve.
“That’s one of the best matches I’ve ever played,” Fils said after the match. “I have played some great matches before, but this level was insane.”
Given that Tsitsipas had arrived in excellent form, the outcome was all the more startling.
After easily defeating Australia’s fifth seeded Alex de Minaur, the former world number three advanced to the third round.
However, the Greek, who was currently ranked 51st was unable to match his opponent’s unwavering accuracy. With just four winners and 28 unforced errors at the end of the match, Tsitsipas was clearly overwhelmed.
He became the first Frenchman to make it to the Miami last 16 in back to back years since Gaël Monfils in 2015 and 2016, and he currently has a perfect 5-0 head to head record against Tsitsipas, a two time Grand Slam finalist.
The win marked another important milestone in Fils remarkable comeback.
Fils returned to tennis at the ATP event in Montpellier in February after pulling out of the Australian swing and the early weeks of 2026.
He has not looked back since re establishing himself.
As a three time ATP Tour champion, reached the quarterfinals in Montpellier, won the final in Doha and reached consecutive quarterfinals in Indian Wells and Miami.
The reinvention of Fils has not been limited to regaining fitness.
Arthur now travels with a personal physiotherapist and has made technical adjustments to his serve, forehand and movement.
He has also reworked his way of handling his body, which is a big mental adjustment for a player who admits to feeling invincible as a youngster.
In the fourth round on Tuesday, Fils was scheduled to take on Valentin Vacherot, ranked 25th in the world.
The Frenchman is hoping to advance further in a competition that is rapidly turning into a gauge of his improved performance.
