AGED CARE ROYAL COMMISSION A CRUCIAL STEP FORWARD

AGED CARE ROYAL COMMISSION A CRUCIAL STEP FORWARD

This is a crucial step forward in delivering quality, sustainable aged care, now and into the future.

It’s about structural change, that will build on our Government’s unprecedented aged care funding and reforms.

The Royal Commission will help build a national culture of respect for ageing and senior Australians.

While the Royal Commission does its critical work, our Government’s rigorous reform program will continue at full pace - with the new Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, tough new Aged Care Quality Standards and record investment.

This includes resourcing the new Quality and Safety Commission to triple unannounced reaccreditation audits of residential aged care homes this year with more surveillance and compliance.

The Royal Commission is the ultimate cleanup of the aged care mess left by Labor.

We have had to repair Labor’s legacy – they underfunded home care, botched residential care funding and ignored much of their own Productivity Commission report.

And remember, Bill Shorten twice refused to back a Royal Commission.
