Kalamunda Bowling Club benefits from Federal grant

The Kalamunda Bowling Club has received a Federal Government grant to help with the construction and maintenance of its new state-of-the-art bowling green.

The funding is part of the $45 million dollar Stronger Communities Program (SCP), set-up to help community, and not for profit groups, fund small capital works projects which will deliver social benefits.

The Federal Member for Hasluck Ken Wyatt AM MP said he was delighted to announce that the Kalamunda Bowling club will receive funding from round two of the program.

“The Kalamunda Bowling Club is a hills icon. It has been part of the community for more than 60 years and is a place where local families gather to play, have a meal and to socialise,” said Mr Wyatt

“I’m proud to be able to support the club and help them buy new equipment that keeps the bowling green pristine for all players,” he said.

“The game of bowls brings people together, sparks competition and is lots of fun. One day I hope to be a regular player of the game,” said Mr Wyatt.

Other groups that received between $5,000 and $20,000 in SCP funding include –

CLAN Midland – to help its youth literacy program ‘Paint the Swan REaD’.

The Kalamunda Church of Christ – to upgrade current community kitchen facilities.

The Kaarakin Cockatoo Conservation Centre – to build a new education centre and footpaths.

Mr Wyatt said he is happy to be able to support not-for-profit groups that help make our Hasluck community vibrant and a great place to live, work and raise a family.
